Kakimoto Racing exhaust install

So today, finally I was able to install the Kakimoto exhaust after 2 month waiting for it to arrive.
A little work had to be done, but i'll let the pics do the talking.
Here are before and after videos:

Before

After

As you can see a lot of little crap had to be done to the old bolts on the car and it wasnt easy to install at all.

Getting there: Parts arriving, engine getting done

The parts above arrived and the engine is done. One part is sadly missing which is still that tensioner, prolly somewhere in the mail.
Engine builder said, it was horrible working on the car. A lot of crap was done to it before.
The exhaust is as thought a Kakimoto, but 2 hangars a missing and one is bent a little and I also need to buy exhaust gaskets for it pretty soon as well.
I am trying to figure out what to do with the ECU, as its not just a simple plug and play, but will prolly have the water system run on its own sensor without the ECU, as thats the major difference in the 2.

I will post all pics as soon as i can, but ive been travelling around a bit.

Evo X vs. WRX STi on Top Gear

Engine parts arriving

Today the major parts arrived at the mechanic, they were suppose to get there monday haha.
The tensioner i ordered yesterday from Austria and should get there monday then. I called to italy, UK, germany netherlands to try and find a tensioner in stock and got lucky with a rallye team out of Austria.

Ordered the parts for the engine

As stated before I had ordered lots to get the engine back to spec, but sadly one part is not in stock. the Alternator Tensioner and this is troublesome, because its one of the more expensive and important parts. I have been looking around if I can find it somewhere else, but had no luck as of yet. This is the part I am missing.

Evo 7 ECU and update

Today I should receive the sandwich plate for the oil adapter for the Defi gauges, which i should receive this week as well.
I also bought an Evo 7 ECU to go with the ECUFlash later in the summer. As seen before I already have Evo 8 Injectors.
Bought the ECU from a Dutch Rallye Team for a good price.

The car should be done tomorrow so I can go pick it up.

I also found a place to ship my Kakimoto. It's been over 2 months since I bought it, but I think the seller wanted to sell it to someone else for a better price, but im not gonna give in and found someone to help me ship it for cheaper.

To compare the size

This is me standing in front of the evo. As you can see the car is rather small.

Car is registered and brought to Evo specialist

Yesterday I did get my mail for the license plate and went right to make it. Afterwards I went to an insurance office and got my insurance dealt with.
This morning then I went off to one of the dutch evo builders to get the car inspected, etc.

Still waiting on letter

I am still waiting for a letter for the my plates. Without those I cannot get any plates and in return cannot apply for any insurance at this point.
I am really hoping to get it later today or early tomorrow morning! I called the RDW earlier today and they said it would get here soon. Let's hope it does.

On another note I got a new computer. I received an Apple macbook. It's very handy due to its size and weight and hope I can use it decently for editing pics and videos down the road.!

Almost 2 months now and not done

Well almost 2 months and the car is still not 100% road ready.
I am ending the budgets 13k Euros very soon and am still missing necessary parts.
Furthermore I am disappointed in the UK. I have ordered several parts, including Defi gauges, which were in stock, but once I paid were not in stock anymore.
To add to that I had bought a Kakimoto Exhaust almost a month back and it still hasn't been sent.
I am also still missing my evo 6 ECU. One more thing is missing, the Bosch Fuel Pump I bought a few weeks ago.
From what Ive ordered so far I've only received the injectors and a decat.

This is very much a learning experience and not easy by ANY means. I needed to spend more time with car issues than with my exams.

Since the Evo 4 has 510cc injectors I got my hands on some low milage Evo 8 injectors. They only ran 20,000 km

Today I went to try and register the car

Since I live in the Netherlands I have to register it here.

here are couple of pointers for people trying to do the same:

Cars before 1997, do not need rear fog lights!
If the car is RHD you have to change the front headlights

You get your car checked out at the RDW www.rdw.nl and they just check the papers and if you want they do the APK (same as MOT, TUV or emissions testing)

I did that and sadly I failed!

I need some new tie rod ends and ordered 2 from www.camskill.co.uk Very nice people and they called me to tell me they shipped it out the same day. good stuff.

Now I have to wait for that.

Because they said the tie rod ends were badI m gonna post some pics.

also wanted to check the cambelt and did so.

here is a pic of the tie rod. It doesn't look bad and the steering actually has no play, but what can you do!

Ordered new ones, they are suppose to look something like this (on the right)

The SweEvo

10.05.2008 I picked up the Evo about 20 miles of London. The previous owner was a woman and had owned it for about 3 years.
It is/was in fairly good condition for a 12 year old car.
It was a 7 hour drive home with it, back to the mainland of Europe.

First post

I actually wanted to design a blog for my new car, but I thought I can add other things as well!
